The beginning

The start of the Art Foundation was based solely on developing drawing skills, which meant we spent a lot of time focusing on the same subject matter. In my case, this was Hollyhock seed heads.
We drew large scale observations of the seed heads in charcoal and chalk on brown paper to start off with. After that, we were set a challenge that the majority of us found very hard; to complete a 40 page sketchbook in ten days, with observations of the seed heads, including different materials and developing the observations all the way through the book.

Completing this sketchbook was difficult, I had never been given a task like that, but it definitely did help me not only with my drawing skills, but also to work under pressure and meet deadlines, an important part of the art and design industry.
